• Heath & Wellness: As a single-ingredient, natural material, that emits no VOCs, natural stone is a healthy choice for interior spaces.
• Circularity: Its inherent durability allows stone to perform impeccably in commercial and residential applications, interior or exterior. It has a unique ability to be refinished and recycled with endless opportunities for reuse after it’s initial service life is complete.
• Environmental: Natural Stone has an inherently low embodied carbon. It is nearly complete as a building material in its natural state since mother nature does most of the manufacturing.
• Ecological: Many quarries operate for centuries, producing millions of square feet of building materials, within a very small footprint. Through the Natural Stone Sustainability Standard, metrics are well defined and third-party verified for responsible manufacturing and ecological stewardship.

The industry-wide EPD is the product group benchmark to which product-specific EPDs can be compared. All life cycle data included in the Sustainable Minds® Transparency Reports [EPD]™ is third-party verified by Ecoform, LLC. SM Transparency Reports provide the technical information required in EPDs and bring that data to life by telling the natural stone sustainability story across the product life cycle.

The Health Product Declaration Collaborative (HPDC) is working with trade associations to assist their members in creating material transparency. The goal of this collaboration is to:
1. Increase participation in material transparency by reducing the friction to participate.
2. Have trade associations offer a multiplication-type effect within an entire industry.

NSI has created example product HPDs for our members to create their own product-specific HPDs.
