  • Sourcing of raw materials UL Recycled Content, Formaldehyde Free, UL Environmental Claim Validations

Knauf North America has a robust offering of certifications and documents related to product sustainability attributes.

Indoor Air Quality – Knauf knows the importance of verifying its products for minimal impact on indoor air quality through the following programs:

  • Asthma & Allergy Friendly® Certified
  • Verified Healthier Air™
  • UL GREENGUARD
  • UL GREENGUARD Gold (meets CDPH v1.2-2017)

Raw Materials – Knauf understands the importance of strategically choosing raw materials and providing transparency so that customers know what is in a Knauf product.

  • Knauf works with data from raw material suppliers to create Health Product Declarations (HPDs) and Declare labels.
  • Knauf innovates and explores new raw materials to continue to build our material disclosure portfolio and reduce product impacts. Through Knauf’s development of the ECOSE® binder, its products were able to be certified formaldehyde free (verified by UL).
  • Knauf products contain recycled glass (verified by UL), which also reduces manufacturing energy needs.

Environmental Impact – Knauf recognizes that raw materials, transport distances, energy during manufacturing, etc, impact the environment. Knauf calculates that impact via a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and reports results in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to understand its current impact and to gauge progress in reducing that impact.

Product sustainability is a journey, with many moving pieces. As Knauf navigates this changing landscape we strive to improve and grow our certification offerings. Please see more information on Knauf’s sustainability goals by visiting – Sustainability at Knauf North America
